Our Certified Electromyography (EMG) Technicians are part of an inter-disciplinary professional team delivering exceptional assessment and treatment for our patients visiting the Clinical Neurophysiology Department. 

Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Cardio/Resp/Neuro Diagnostics, Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Lab

and utilizing your knowledge of anatomy and physiology you will perform Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography (EMG) in an out and inpatients environment, as per established standards; operate, troubleshoot and ensure equipment is performing in an effective and efficient manner; prepare electronic and written reports required to document all procedures and test results; participate in training and other educational activities  as well as perform other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care.

Hourly Rate:  $32.17 - $37.06

Schedule Requirements: Subject to Change - 8 hour shifts as per physician’s clinic hours.

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Operates and maintains all equipment used for routine duties.
  • Organizes and prioritizes daily workload while recognizing the seriousness of urgent/stat requests.
  • Determines which nerve conduction study is appropriate for patient to start.
  • Recognizes life-threatening/serious situations and alerts medical personnel.
  • Completes patient history to identify important relevant medical information.
  • Produces nerve conduction study recordings according to the recognized professional standards.
  • Provides careful observation and assessment of the patient throughout the recording and produces anecdotal notes on the recording to facilitate interpretation.
  • Works closely with the medical director of Neuro-Diagnostics for technical and clinical direction.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

 

  • 2 years of related work experience as an EMG Technician.
  • Member of The Association of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (AETC) required.
  • Certified or eligible for BRETC (Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada).
  • Graduate of a University Degree or College Diploma preferred.
  • Current BCLS.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
