Right now we are looking for a Unit Aide to work with our Operating Room Team.

 

Employment Status: Part Time
Hours of Work: Rotating shifts, 8 hours, days/evenings/weekends “subject to change as per Article 3 – Management Rights”. 
Location: Humber River Health – Wilson Site
Labour Group: NOWU Service 
Reporting Relationship: Manager, Operating Room
Hourly Rate: $26.356 - $26.877

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the areas and Supply carts are stocked, replacing linen, isolation supplies, etc.
  • Maintaining an established inventory of sterile and unsterile supplies for the units.
  • Assiting with collection of urgent supplies and medications from pharmacy or equipment as needed.
  • Other stocking duties as assigned.
  • Contacting SPD, EVS and or Stores for additional supplies if necessary
  • Transporting clean/soiled linen, medical surgical /supplies, specimens etc.
  • Ensuring that all empty Bays are equipped with a clean stretcher
  • Assisting surgical and plastic clinic patients with way finding to pre-operative change rooms
  • Notifying manager/designate about broken equipment repairs or replacement and initiating the reporting and transportation of broken equipment to Biomedical Engineering or Maintenance as required
  • Working with the volunteers in navigating patients in surgical and plastic clinic

 Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Two years of recent related hospital medical/surgical supply experience required.
  • Medical Device Reprocessing (MDRD) or Sterile Supply Processing certificate is required
  • Working knowledge of medical supplies required.
  • Surgical experience is a strong asset.
  • Able to handle physical requirements of the job (ability to lift 25-30 pounds repeatedly).
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
