Right now we’re looking for an Applications Support Assistant to join the Information Communication and Technology Department. This role will play an integral part in developing, implementing and evaluating new technology infrastructure, systems, applications and tools that reduce capital and operational costs and increase patient satisfaction.  The Applications Support Assistant will provide support and assist the IS Analysts with incident management and user training for desktop computer hardware and applications and participate in software maintenance and upgrades.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide support to IS Analysts with daily Help Desk tasks and support staff to address issues with operation, function or access to computer hardware and software for all clinical and operational technology systems and services.  (e.g. incident management, set up users)
  • Resolve issues with user access to systems and applications; assist with training clients to use applications after system or application upgrades
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the IS Analysts for resolution
  • Rollout standard software autonomously using corporate media library
  • Determine when to escalate issue to IS Analyst and/or Tier 3
  • Provide support for development of project plans for Application Manager/CTO approval (e.g. collect and describe business needs; provide testing, quality review and post implementation management)
  • Contribute to the development of departmental strategies, goals and priorities in consultation with Manager Applications and other team members
  • Desktop support operational standards and best practices
  • IT infrastructure Library (ITIL) Guidelines
  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational health & Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System

 

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Health Informatics or equivalent experience, required
  • At least 1 year of IS Support experience, required, in a healthcare setting, preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Able to travel between sites during business hours as required.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
