Right now we are looking for a Temporary Full time Dietitian, Professional Practice Leader to work with our Allied Health Services and Professional Practice Department. Please note that this position carries a 50% clinical caseload and 50% Professional Practice Leader role.

Hourly Rate: $43.76 - $55.94

Responsibilities:

• Resource to clinical programs for matters involving discipline specific professional practice.

• Works collaboratively with clinical programs and other discipline leaders to facilitate the integration of professional standards and promote professional practice.

• Functions as a mentor and support for new and current staff to ensure that specialized and high-quality clinical expertise is available for patient care.

• Facilitates professional excellence by fostering an environment where interdisciplinary dialogue, ongoing learning, evidence basedevidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement are integrated into practice, routinely demonstrated and measured

• Staying informed on current standards, legislation, hospital policies and regulations, and Accreditation Standards which aligned with the profession.

• Dissemination of information about changes to Dietitian competencies and standards practice via Professional Practice Counsil.

• Monitoring and evaluating the impact of changes in practice on patient care

• Generating recommendations for changes in policies and practice in accordance to CDO and HRH leadership.

• Participates in internal and external committees for quality improvement initiatives.

• Liaising with educational facilities, processional associations and regulatory bodies

• Implementation and maintenance of quality management programs.

• Assistance with coverage plans for the Dietitian team in collaboration and direction from the manager.

• Professional Practice coverage of other disciplines when required.

• Review of Incident Risk submissions to ensure safe practice to college standards.

Requirements:

• Masters degree or Bachelor degree in Food and Nutrition

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Dieticians of Ontario (CDO).

• Completion of an internship program and a member (or eligibility to become a member) of the Dieticians of Canada.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting (full time equivalent).

• Demonstrated critical thinking skills and effective problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload to meet varied assignments from both Professional Practice and Allied Health.

• Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement processes adult learning principles and change management

• Demonstrated excellence interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including, ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse group of stakeholders.

• Demonstrate effective presentation skills, including the ability to present and discuss complex information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others in understanding of the information.

• Demonstrate the ability to lead and positively influence individuals and teams within a large organization and in the context of major change, toward a vision while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment, and effectiveness.

• Recent experience utilizing leadership skills such acting as a mentor /preceptors others.

• Experience with Interprofessional Collaborative Practice initiatives, projects or committees

• Computer skills and knowledge of M.S. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

• Understanding of the professional standards of practice with applicable legislation including, but not limited to, Regulated Health Professional Act, Mental Health Act, Public Hospitals Act, and profession-specific acts.
