We currently have an exciting opportunity here at Humber River Health for a Senior Financial Business Analyst to join our Financial Services team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for

developing, tracking, and analyzing budget and financial data and reports for accuracy and timeliness

Hours of Work: Must be available to work Monday to Friday. 
Location: Humber River Health - Wilson Site

Reporting Relationship:
Manager, Financial Reporting and Accounts Payable. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Financial Statement Close Process, including but not limited to -
  • Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) to accurately record monthly financial results
  • Review monthly actual vs. budget results; follow up on significant variances, and determine appropriate action; refer highly complex issues to Manager/Director for resolution
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and follow up on issues
  • Report Provincial Grants (e.g.  Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of LongTerm Care (MLTC), Ontario Health (OH), etc.), Foundation, Research, and other income sources to project income/funding streams
  • Work with client group to allocate monthly funds to expenditures that meet donor funding priorities; follow up on outstanding issues
  • Maintain funding reconciliation and deferred revenue schedules to track and record funding revenue from MOH/MLTC/OH
  • Update monthly continuity schedule for grants and capital donations; track additions, amortization, and write-offs aligned with corporate policies and accounting principles to determine appropriate amortization period in collaboration with Manager/Director
  • Financial Report, including but not limited to -
  • Develop monthly financial reports to be presented by Director/CFO at senior management team (SMT) meetings for leadership decision-making, and at board finance committee
  • Create and maintain custom financial reports within the Meditech General Ledger module
  • Review current report designs to assess compliance with current reporting requirements and update reports to meet requirements
  • Develop and distribute ad-hoc internal reports 
  • Physician On-Call Stipend, including but not limited to -
  • Review physician on-call schedules (i.e. Hospital On-Call Coverage Program (HOCC) hospital stipend) to be submitted for payment
  • Reconcile schedule of physician on-call payments to the general ledger to ensure payments comply with MOH Funding Agreement
  • Prepare working paper files for year-end settlement audit; respond to auditors’ queries; review year-end report for accurate completion in preparation for MOH year-end report submission 
  • Year End Audit, including but not limited to -
  • Provide financial information to auditors that meet audit requirements for year end
  • Prepare data for HST audit
  • Prepare remittance and reporting documents (i.e. taxes, funding models/sources, trial balances) to reduce financial penalties arising from past due payments

 

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
  • Charted Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
  • 7 years accounting experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in:
  • Generally Accepted Account Principles and Public Sector Accounting Standards
  • Public Funding Models
  • Data management and analysis
  • MS Office Skills with excellent proficiency in Excel
  • Demonstrated excellent data management, analytical, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Leadership and conflict management skills preferred
