We’re currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Prescreening Clinic.

 

Employment Status: Permanent Full Time
Hours of Work:
Must be able to work 8 hour staggered shifts between the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm, 8am-4pm,and 9am-5pm from Monday to Friday, including but not limited to days, afternoons and evenings (subject to change as per Article B – Management Functions)

$40.24 - $57.68


Position Responsibilities: 

 

  • Interviewing patients and families in preparation for their surgery (via telephone interview or in person)
  • Reviewing pre-operative orders, including laboratory and ECG tests
  • Facilitating consults with anesthesia, medicine, lab technologist, ECG technician, physiotherapist, pharmacy as per physicians orders and medical directives.
  • Providing pre-operative health teaching and educational material tailored to patient's care plan and surgical pathway
  • All other duties as assigned by manager 

 

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and BCLS certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent surgical nursing experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent perioperative nursing experience required
  • Previous experience in Surgical Pre-screening Clinic is preferred
  • Knowledge and Experience with Meditech are required
  • Demonstrated exceptional patient assessment skills 
  • Completion of a health assessment course is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an interprofessional team, including engagement with patients and families 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and awareness of patients’ multicultural needs.
  • Excellent attendance and a discipline-free record are required.
