We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Withdrawal Management Program

 

Employment Status: Permanent Part Time

Reporting Relationship: Clinical Manager, Mental Health & Addictions Program

Hourly Rate Range: $41.15 - $58.98

Location: Humber River Health, Wilson (must be willing to work on all Mental Health Units)

Hours of work: Day shifts from Monday to Friday (except Tuesday as it will be a 12-8pm shift) - subject to change as per Article B – Management Functions

Responsibilities:

  • Provides assessment,treatment and discharge planning for complex concurrent disorder patients in the Chemical Dependency and Withdrawal Management Programs
  • Provides individual counselling, group psychoeducation, crisis management, and connection to community resources for patients and/or their families.
  • Provides intake support for the program in collaboration with other members of the care team utilizing a shared decision-making process.
  • Facilitates strong working relationships and acts as a resource within our internal Mental Health and Addictions programs, other areas of HRH, as well as with our community partners. 
  • Collaborate with the Physician Leader, Clinical Manager, Clinical Practice Leader and other stakeholders in the improvement of programs, and the development of new programs for patients and families.
  • Provide Nursing coverage to other Mental Health & Addictions Clinics as required by the Clinical Manager.  

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with CNO required. Current BCLS certification required.
  • BScN or degree in health sciences preferred.
  • Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing required or willingness to obtain when eligible to do so.
  • Two years’ experience in Mental Health and Addictions patient care required
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills,  and experience with managing and caring for the patient with polysubstance use, and co-existing medical/psychiatric concerns related to concurrent disorders. Training in concurrent disorders is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the medical management of a patient in withdrawal
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MH & A screening tools to manage both Mental Health & Addictions Crisis
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of mental health and addictions crisis.  Crisis Intervention training is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in psycho-educational group facilitation.  Training in group facilitation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent familiarity with psychotropic medications and ability to administer depot medication preferred.
  • Knowledge of addictions specific community-based treatment programs and resources is an asset
  • Understanding of and experience in Trauma Informed Care is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
