We are currently looking for one (1) Artificial Intelligence Expert REB Member to serve as a volunteer on the Humber River Health Research Ethics Board

• We need your Artificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine Learning (ML) expertise; also seeking diversity of all types among our membership.
• Purpose of REB: review proposed scientific research studies to help ensure the protection of human participants in research, keeping in mind scientific, ethical, regulatory, and legal considerations.  
• If you like knowing what’s up-and-coming in medical research, it can be very interesting to read the studies in the development phases. We also need expertise in AI/ ML in order to improve our reviews for future research projects  
• Time commitment varies and is approximately 4 hours a month of preparation/ reviews or more, plus a two-hour monthly meeting, which may be virtual on MS Teams or ZOOM.  
• Training and training resources will be provided.  
• We also are transitioning soon to a new online submission system (through Infonetica), which will enhance the ease of reviewing submissions with a single login.  

 
Qualifications:

• Expertise and/or extensive knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning that can be applied to research studies in a hospital-based setting
• All types of diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, gender orientation, skills, interests, languages, life circumstances, abilities, spiritual or religious affiliations, and more. 
• Adequate time and interest in volunteering
• Able to attend virtual meetings once a month on Thursday evenings from 5-7pm
