Humber River Health's Nursing Resources Team is part of the Staffing Resource Centre within the Hospital. The Registered Nurses within the Nursing Resources Team are trained to cover all Medicine and Surgical Inpatient Units. Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for Registered Nurse duties in all Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units. It is the expectation that members of the Nursing Resources Team are available for all rotating shifts.
Qualifications:
- Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS certification or demonstrated competency.
- Recent Medical and/or Surgical experience is mandatory. Minimum 2 years experience preferred.
- Coronary Care I or actively pursuing the Coronary Care Certification is an asset.
- Commitment to complete Coronary Care II within 12 months of starting on the unit is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a variety of staff, patients and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Excellent physical assessment skills is required preference will be given to applicants that have taken the physical assessment course
- Good patient/family teaching skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills, with anability to set priorities and work effectively in a fast paced environment

- Develop reports of staff disciplinary actions for submission to regulatory health professional colleges and professional associations in collaboration with Manager and Director
- Collect data on practice needs (e.g. programs, care interventions, policies, standards in clinical area) to identify gaps in nursing practices, competencies, and service quality; develop educational strategies, plans, and content (e.g. policies, processes, technologies) in consultation with unit leadership team and clinical staff; and evaluate post-training outcomes
- Conduct testing and auditing of electronic medical records (EMR) to leverage information systems in driving clinical charting optimization, report generation, and data submission.
- Conduct impact analysis to determine training and education activity and program interdependencies (e.g. technical Meditech systems use, orientation, accreditation, hand hygiene, new or updated care and treatment standards) and keep staff updated with new practices, skills, and certifications in assigned clinical areas
- Consultation with the Program Director, Manager and staff regarding program needs
- Modeling clinical skills excellence, superior physical assessment, and vascular access
- Providing orientation, training, and ongoing education to Nephrology staff
- Participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of continuous quality initiatives

- Facilitating development of multidisciplinary standards of patient care
- Collecting, analyzing statistical activities and implementing appropriate interventions on clinical areas

- Providing internal and external nursing consultation to clients/families, health professionals, groups and organizations related to CKD management;
- Participating in decision-making process at the unit and the regional program level on issues impacting on clinical practice
- Participate and assist the Nephrology Program to achieve the deliverables under the Ontario Renal Network, and strives to achieve the targets of the Ontario Renal Plan III

We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Experience Quality Improvement Coordinator to join our team within the Quality & Patient Safety team.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and assist with the implementation of quality and patient safety initiatives (e.g. patient experience, quality, patient safety, etc.).
- Conduct research, work with internal and external stakeholders including patients and families prepare and analyse information, documenting information into a database/spreadsheet.
- Assist in monitoring project plans and schedules to identify and address discrepancies, track progress, and meet program requirements; identify barriers to project completion for escalation to project sponsor and other stakeholders
- Assist with analyzing current practices and work flows, collect and use data to identify opportunities for improvement, facilitate group discussions, develop and implement changes using change management practices
- Foster a culture of patient quality improvement, safety, and risk reduction
- Coordinate scheduling, quality assurance and administrative activities for the Post Discharge Call Centre (PDCC) (e.g. 3-6 team members)
- Review governmental and organizational standards and guidelines to service design and patient experience to meet ensure legal, regulatory, and quality improvement goals arising from directives
- Co-ordinate with external agencies on patient experience reporting metrics
- Research, analyze, and disseminate new knowledge regarding patient care and safety quality improvement, risk reduction, and improving data driven decision-making
- Assist with the development and maintenance of databases used for information tracking and storage
- Assist teams to prepare reports on quality and risk metrics
Requirement:
- Undergraduate degree in Science (Health Sciences, Life Sciences, etc.), Health Policy, Health Management or Health Informatics required
- Minimum of 1-3 years of recent experience in Leading patient experience and high reliability quality improvement initiatives required

Responsibilities:
NICU
- Providing feeding assessments in the premature neonatal population and working with the care team and parents in the creation of a feeding plan.
- Working collaboratively with a Registered Dietician to assess and treat babies and children with feeding difficulties and support families in creating and implementing home based programming and recommendations for discharge.
- Providing inpatient support to the NICU and Paediatric Program to address feeding issues related to prematurity and medical disorders. Knowledge of feeding assessment and feeding therapy techniques required.
Feeding Clinic:
- Evaluating children 0-10 years of age who present with various oral-motor, sensory and behavioural challenges which are impacting development of feeding skills and food intake. Feeding issues include, but are not limited to, food selectivity/aversion, failure to progress to age appropriate textures, difficulty bottle-feeding and mechanical feeding difficulties (i.e. poor chewing skills).
- Providing ongoing consultation as well as direct treatment services using various frames of references and models of practice (Sensory-Processing theory, Behavioural theory, Food Chaining, S.O.S approach) in order to improve feeding skills and developmental outcomes.
- Maintaining clinical records which include online documentation of assessment reports and progress notes.
- Participating in Professional Practice Council meeting and activities
- Adhering to professional codes of ethics and standards of practice as determine by CAOT and COTO.
- Promotion of family-centred care philosophy.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) as well as membership in either CAOT or OSOT
- Experience in supporting feeding challenges in premature infants in the NICU. Opportunity for off-site mentoring and training may be provided to candidates who demonstrate some knowledge but require further support
- Minimum 2 years working in an outpatient feeding clinic (or equivalent) environment
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in the areas of infant and paediatric/neonatal feeding, feeding issues related to autism, and sensory processing

Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for Registered Nurse duties in all Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units. It is the expectation that members of the Nursing Resources Team are available for all rotating shifts.
Qualifications:
- Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS certification or demonstrated competency.
- Recent Medical and/or Surgical experience is mandatory. Minimum 2 years experience preferred.
- Coronary Care I or actively pursuing the Coronary Care Certification is an asset.
- Commitment to complete Coronary Care II within 12 months of starting on the unit is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a variety of staff, patients and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Excellent physical assessment skills is required preference will be given to applicants that have taken the physical assessment course
- Good patient/family teaching skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills, with anability to set priorities and work effectively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work effectively/collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

- Provide care for chronically ventilated and acutely ill patients with respiratory health problems in collaboration with the Registered Respiratory Therapist where necessary
- Provide care of acutely ill patients with respiratory health problems.
- Assessment, care planning and coordination of care with various team members within an inter-professional setting.
- Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.
- Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.
- Resource/team leader responsibilities.
- Preceptorship of nursing students and new orientees.
Qualifications:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS certification or an agreement to obtain within 3 months of commencement into the position.
- Previous Respiratory nursing experience preferred.
- 2 years acute medical/surgical Inpatient experience preferred.
- A commitment to complete specialized training in Respiratory nursing prior to starting on the unit.
- Experience providing care to patients with ventilators, trachestomy, central lines, complex wounds, and feeding tubes is preferred.
- Physical Assessment course preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities, sound problem solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
- Excellent patient/family teaching skills and an ability to promote family centered care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, patients, family members and visitors.

We are currently looking for a Unit Aide for to join the Critical Care/Intensive CareUnit
Responsibilities:
- Unit Aide duties within the Intensive Care Unit
- Ensure that the supply carts are stocked
- Transportation clean stretchers, carts, medical/surgical equipment/supplies, patients, specimen etc.
- Appropriate distribution and collection of supplies, equipment, instruments, trays, etc.
- Ensures that sufficient supplies are on hand for patient care until the next ordering shift.
- Acts as a liaison with SPD, volunteers and ICU/CCU team members
- Works co-operatively and constructively with all department team members.
- Help move the patient within the department including assisting with patient transfers
- Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment including cleaning equipment and ensuring equipment is functional including routine checks on the ICU equiptment
- Understands and demonstrates support for the hospital mission, vision and values.
- Participates in quality assurance activities.
- Provides evidence of ongoing satisfactory attendance.
- Knowledge of key clinical supplies used in the area
- Responds to other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of minimum high school grade 12 and able to produce a diploma of completion is required.
- Sterile processing certificate or the ability to demonstrate the knowledge, skill and judgement in the decontamination and processing of sterile supplies and instruments
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate preferred
- Understand and adhere to hospital policies and procedures including Infection Control policies, uniform dress code, cell phones and all other devices and mandatory legislation such as; Human Rights Code, Confidentiality policies and safety procedures.
- Proficient in basic computer skills including email, MS Office
- Two years of recent related hospital medical/surgical supply experience preferred.
- Hospital experience preferred and Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to speak, read and interpret the English language (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to use positive communication skills with patients, families and colleagues
- Knowledge of the Wilson site for delivery of urgent specimens or equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of the stores process for stock and non-stock items
- Knowledge and skill for transfers and lifts on a bed and from a bed to chair
- Knowledge of the washer disinfector operation
- Maintains proper order for equipment and supplies
- Knowledge of safe handling of sharps and biomedical waste
- Ability to demonstrate understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Good working knowledge of medical supplies and sterilization.
- Able to handle stressful situations in a very fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate specialty equipment such as beds, limb holders etc.
- Knowledge of the overhead ceiling lifts and the ability to work under the direction of an RN when mobilizing patients
- IPAC precautions and associated disinfection of equipment and supplies
- Physically able to push stretchers, lift and store linen and surgical supplies, clean stretchers
- Demonstrated ability to cope with long periods of time with physical demands such as walking, bending, pushing, and heavy lifting (lift 25-30 pounds repeatedly).
- Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Qualifications:
- Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
- Current BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum 2 years Critical Care experience.
- Critical Care Certificate required.
- Experience in working on a Nurse Lead Rapid Response Team preferred
- Experience in critical care with hemodynamic monitoring and invasive and non invasive ventilation required.
