- Provides effective, efficient and quality patient support services through effective management of staff, facilities and financial resources .
- Plans, develops and implements service delivery systems in collaboration with health systems management and community referral sources that enhance customer-focus, professional and accountability using data and information analysis of quality, utilization and outcome indicators.

Requirements:

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Executive Vice-President of Strategy, Corporate Services & Chief, People Services, the Vice President, Human Resources provides strategic leadership and direction to all facets of human resource for Humber River Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the human resources strategy in support of the strategic direction of the Hospital (organization) specifically in areas of talent management, organizational and performance management, succession planning, occupational health and safety compensation, and employee/labour relations. As a member of the hospital’s Senior Team, the individual will articulate the HR needs and plans for the organization and provide strategic leadership to the senior leadership, executive staff and the Board of Directors.
An expert communicator, the Vice President, Human Resources nurtures positive relationships and collaborates with the leadership teams and staff internally and externally, with a staff complement of over 5,000 people. RESPONSIBILITIES
The VP Human Resources will lead a team comprised of four Directors (Employee & Labour Relations, Talent Acquisition & Total Rewards, Occupational Health & Safety, Volunteers and combined staff compliment of forty five (45) in the following:
- Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR Team, management, senior leadership [and the Board] in all facets of human resources
- Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the HRH’s vision, mission and strategic priorities
- Ensure the implementation of hospital’s strategy and/or corporate initiatives are compliant with relevant legislation, collective agreements and progressive human resources principles and practices
- Develop and maintain a productive, respectful and collaborative relationship with the hospital’s union partners
- Provide comprehensive strategic recruitment, retention and succession plans to meet the human capital needs of the hospital.
- Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefit plans are competitive and cost-effective
- Ensures progressive human resource practices, guidelines, policies, and procedures are in place and maintained
- Work collaboratively with Executive Vice-President and Director of Strategy and organizational development on the execution of HRH’s talent management program.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Masters prepared – e.g. Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Leadership, Masters of Health Administration, Masters of Health Science, etc.
- Minimum 10 years human resources experience within a healthcare setting
- Minimum 5 years senior leadership within a multi union hospital environment
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
- Strong understanding of hospital operations
- Extensive experience in labour relations, talent management and total compensation
- Evidence of expanding learning, development, and recognition opportunities
- Expert communication, coaching, and team building skills
- Expert business and financial acumen, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills

Responsibilities:
- R.N. responsibilities for the assessment and treatment of mental health patients in the acute phase of the illness.

Position Responsibilities:
- All aspects of care for patients receiving hemodialysis with a primary nursing focus
- Providing education and follow-up to all hemodialysis patients

Qualifications:
- Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program

Responsibilities:
- R.N. responsibilities for the assessment and treatment of mental health patients in the acute phase of the illness.
- Effective use of the primary care nursing model.
- Ability to perform mental status examination and crisis intervention.
- Resource/team leader responsibilities.
- Individual/group counselling, individual supportive intervention and therapeutic group activities
- Nurses may be reassigned to other mental health units as per the Collective Agreement
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BCLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities:
- Autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe pharmaceuticals within scope of practice as it relates to the Bariatric Program; includes micronutrient supplementation
- Update policies, procedures and Standards of Care for the Bariatric Program
- Ability to support patients by providing clinical expertise, guidance and education
- Assist in the coordination of activity between the surgical and medical clinics
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and with the physicians
- Communicate abnormal findings with the team
- Conducts health assessment and focused physical exam on high-risk patients; identifies normal and abnormal findings through investigation and liaises with PCP as needed and provides appropriate referrals
- Facilitate the transition of patients post-operatively over to their Primary Care Providers
- Facilitate team rounds and assist in the provision of comprehensive medical care for the bariatric patient
- Identifies researchable questions and participates in research initiatives
- Providing education on matters related to bariatric surgery, weight loss and health promotion
- Formulates differential diagnoses, orders and/or performs screening and diagnostic investigation based on presenting health concern and treating using evidence based best practices and triaging post-operative for complications warranting ED visit and liaising with surgeons and internist as needed. This includes observing for post-bariatric surgery complications and treating appropriately
- Prevents unnecessary ED visits
- Ability to incorporate knowledge of diversity, cultural safety and the determinants of health in the assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic management of patients and the evaluation of outcomes
- Identifies educational programs for the care team.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders as well as work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends as required
Qualifications:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult) and entitled to practice with no restrictions.
- Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience as an NP in primary care, long-term care, acute care or continuing care.
- CDE and CBE certification preferred
- Knowledge of Bariatric, community resources, crisis work and a working knowledge of the Regulated Health Profession Act, Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Substitute Decisions Act.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of adult education
- Experienced in Program development and evaluation and analysis of statistics
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the provision of effective clinical consultation and assessment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish positive relationships with all staff, clients, families, and community agencies
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
- Excellent problem solving ability and critical thinking skills and able to work independently and in collaboration with interdisciplinary team

- Knowledge of Quality Improvement process, data analysis and program development
