The Hospital is formally affiliated with both the University of Toronto and Queen’s University.   Right now we’re looking for a Part time Certified Asthma Educator to work in our Maternal & Child Program.   Reporting to Manager, Paediatric Outpatient Clinic, the Asthma Educator works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide excellent care to paediatric clients with Asthma and other lung diseases. The Asthma Educator establishes strong communication pathways between clients, family physicians, specialists, hospitals and other community and agencies.     Responsibilities:   - Collaboratively improves the operation of the clinics by evaluating processes, workflow, and participating in other quality improvement activities such as chart audits. - The Asthma Educator performs Spirometry tests and assists with education for patients and patient's family. - The Asthma Educator maintains and perform calibrations on Spirometry equipment,Oxygen Saturation Monitor and supplies all the while adhering to Universal Precautions and Infection Control practices. - Maintain accurate records of clients’ therapy using electronic medical records (EMR) and spirometry reports Facilitate and assist in developing individual education sessions. - Serve as a resource to the team. - Ordering of supplies including Samples and other devices as needed.   Requirements: - Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario - Practice in accordance with the standards of professional practice as outlined by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO). - Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists - Current Certified Asthma Educator designation required/Asthma Educator - 5 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist - Currently Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) - Experience in pediatric respiratory assessment, Pulmonary Rehabilitation - Demonstrates effective time-management skills and able to quickly make decisions in order to solve problems as required: ability to work independently - Excellent computer literacy and Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook, Electronic Medical Records - Must have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills - Other languages an asset - Strong technical skills in Spirometry testing - TEACH Trained, familiar with the OMSC and STOP with CHC   Hours of work:   Part Time - Days   Interested applicants are required to submit an Application before the closing date. Join our Dialysis Technologist Team as we work together to deliver compassionate care that is responsive to the healthcare needs of our community.   Humber River will be one of the occupying hospitals at this site and as such, we are hiring a Dialysis Technologist to work in our newly designated  Finch Reactivation Care Centre facility.     Reporting Relationship: Director, Projects & Biomedical Engineering Employee Group: OPSEU590 Location: All sites Hours of work (Subjesct to change): - Must be available for all shifts, including weekends and stationary Holidays - Primary shifts are 06:00–14:00, 8-4, 12:00 – 20:00, - Must be available to work overtime when required or be on call for service calls - Will rotate between all sites   Reporting Relationship Dialysis Technologist will report directly to the Director of Projects & Biomedical Engineering and work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control Coordinators.   Responsibilities - Maintain hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and all other dialysis related equipment according to current standards - Follow routine service schedules and perform electrical inspections of dialysis equipment - Perform emergency repairs and make independent decisions about safety or continuation of use - Service, exchange or repair hemodialysis machines and water treatment systems in patient homes - Provide assessment of patient homes for the installation of plumbing and electrical work for the initiation of home dialysis - Provide computer support and perform routine back-ups, support and information for other dialysis staff - Assist  in research and evaluation of new products, practices and procedures, reporting findings or documentation - Keep current necessary software revision levels in accordance with manufacturers technical updates - Help maintain a database of capital equipment, machine repairs, replacement parts, home dialysis visits and inventory - Provide support to supervisor, manager, nursing staff and physicians - Provide support for dialysis assistants and nurses - Help with supplies and inventory when required - Assist with Transportation and movement  of equipment and delivery of dialysis supplies  Requirements: - A graduate from recognized Electronic/Biomedical Engineering Technologist Program or from a Dialysis Technology Program with at least 3 years of related dialysis experience required. - Recent computer related experience with Microsoft Office products and general PC Hardware/software configurations - Must be fluent in English (verbal and written).  Must have a demonstrated ability to read and understand basic medical terminology, concepts of sterility and aseptic technique - Must have a demonstrated ability to assess complex electronic and hydraulic systems and evaluate equipment safety functions and make independent judgments about continuation or removal of use - Ability and willingness to learn, understand and follow technical guidelines as related to medical equipment company CSA , AAMI. - Ability to present technical topics for presentation or discussion and relate or provide instruction for dialysis assistant,  nurses and home dialysis patients - Must have strong organizational, problems solving and interpersonal skills - Demonstrated ability to work independently but remain an influential and flexible member of the multidisciplinary team - Strong communication, customer service and patient focused care skills are essential - Must be physically able to perform duties requiring heavy exertion (lifting, pushing and pulling).  Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time - Possess valid driver’s license - Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.   Why Humber?
